Services for Children with Disabilities
- TNS Head Start and EHS often provide the first opportunity for a comprehensive assessment of a child’s development and special needs. TNS ensures at least ten-percent enrollment of children with various special needs, are served in accordance with Head Start performance Standards and IDEA. The agency collaborates closely with the local school districts that are required to serve eligible children with various challenges from ages 0 to 21.
- TNS strives to provide a stimulating preschool program to children with disabilities by integrating disabled and non-disabled children in an inclusive classroom setting. Outside agencies offer services to children by therapists/counselors coming in and providing : Diagnostic and evaluative services; speech and language; and physical, occupational and play therapies are all offered in accordance with individualized education plans.
TNS Head Start provides connections between schools and families, and between pre-kindergarten and kindergarten teachers and classrooms for smooth transitions from pre-kindergarten to kindergarten. Purposeful coordination between the pre-kindergarten and elementary settings is maintained to maximizes the achievement that children gain in Head Start.
