Early Head Start provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to eligible-income infants and toddlers and their families, and pregnant women and their families.
Early Head Start nurtures healthy attachments between parent and child (and child and caregiver), emphasizes a strengths-based, relationship-centered approach to services, and encompass the full range of a family’s needs from pregnancy through a child’s third birthday.
The support of a positive parent-child relationship is critical key to child development. So know, you are the most important thing in the young child’s environment! As a parents and caregiver, you help your infant/toddler learn and grow in every developmental area just by being attentive and affectionate during routine activities such as changing diapers, going to sleep, and eating. The main ways to do this are:
- Talking with the baby
- Reading with the baby
- Supporting positive behavior
Head Start is designed to work with the whole family and encourages parents as their child’s first and most important teacher. Head Start serves families with children age three to five. In addition to providing a free, quality preschool experience, the program offers health, nutrition and social services.
Head Start promotes the school readiness of young children from income eligible families. We define school readiness as children being ready for school, families ready to support their children’s learning, and schools ready for the children who enter their doors.
Financial Literacy education is the best way to address financial and economic difficulties – even before they start. Through our Financial Literacy Workshop, we utilize the support of our extensive partnership network in assisting our clients with enabling them to lay their foundation for a strong financial future.
The program is delivered in a workshop format and covers a range of topics necessary for improving financial knowledge, goal setting and achieving financial life markers such as purchase of a vehicle or home ownership.
